Abstract The requirements of European Union (EU) EMC directive for PV inverter were 
explained with emphasis on how to select generic standards subordinate to light 
industry or industry. The requirements of relevant emission tests were explained in 
detail which included the requirements of test ambient, test ports, applicability, sample
curves, limits and difficult points. In addition, an outline of the root cause of test fail
and debugging solution were provided.
