Design Concepts to Achieve EMC on Printed Circuit Boards
Abstract: Printed circuit boards (PCBs) are the primary source of radiated EMI with
digital components. To ensure a design will meet functional requirements, namely
signal integrity and EMC compliance, one must be able to implement design techniques
that minimize development of common-mode currents. There are three primary areas of
concern, understanding transmission line theory along with proper implementation,
using a grounding methodology appropriate for the intended environment of use, along
with designing an optimal power distribution network.
